Lightening the Lives: Community Based Solar and Bio-gas Programs
Working on sustainable environment and alternate energy, specifically on solar energy., we aim to improve the conditions of the many Pakistanis, especially those living in rural areas, who do not have access to electricity. Renewable energy provides an affordable and eco-friendly way to improve their lives. Lightening the Lives is RSD latest campaign and massive program designed to help those in need. The basic premise is simple- education is a must for our country to prosper, and it is a must for everyone.
However, thanks to electricity shortages, students in rural areas often face difficulties in their educational progress. We plan to help ease their hardships with the help of using Solar Energy Solution operated by Communities.
"The use of solar energy offers huge potential for natural resource and climate protection, and for the expansion of renewable energies on the road to a future oriented energy supply."

Model Project F.R Bannu
A small pilot project was conducted, where small-scale solar lights were introduced in Three villages of F.R Bannu. It was difficult for the RSD to determine the affordability or price point in the villages, as often the residents would not disclose their financial condition even to our members native to these villages. After negotiations by the community members to lower the set contribution, each village household (who agreed to purchase the product) contributed 40 percent of the total cost. Likewise, each school management and farmers were also provided these products which are portable small solar light with a mobile charging component, which made the product extremely popular among the masses. It is noteworthy that with minimal advertising or marketing effort, the residents became interested in purchasing the solar light after one light was left at a local’s house as a sample for a few days. The test project demonstrated villagers’ willingness to learn and invest in solar technology. To make the project financially sustainable. This project is now adopted by various farmers and running very successful in these areas.
